Visa Refusal
If your visa application has been refused, it’s important to understand that this does not always mark the end of your immigration journey. Depending on the type of visa you applied for and the reasons for refusal, there are several legal options available to challenge the decision. At Maguire International, our immigration specialists have extensive experience in handling visa refusals, Administrative Reviews, and Judicial Review proceedings. We conduct a thorough assessment of your case, advise on the most appropriate course of action, and prepare detailed representations to give you the best possible chance of success.
Administrative Review
An Administrative Review (AR) is a formal process that allows you to request the Home Office to re-examine its decision if you believe an error was made in assessing your application. This option is available for certain visa categories, particularly under the Points-Based System.
During an Administrative Review, a different Home Office caseworker will review your application and the decision-making process. You are not permitted to submit new evidence at this stage — the review focuses solely on whether the original decision was incorrect based on the information you initially provided.
The Home Office fee for an Administrative Review is currently £80, and a decision is usually made within 28 days.
